  1. I love it. You've inspired me to *maybe* do a video. I'm still a little afraid. ;)

  4. Okay, just back from washing the crow shit off the van. Man, when those suckers gather by the hundreds they can blanket your vehicle in the most disgusting frozen mess, if you happen to be unlucky enough to have parked under a tree they later decide to occupy. Stuff sticks like glue too. Yech.

Liz, nobody likes to hear themselves recorded and played back, well, except maybe Jordie Haley, or other narcissistic types. Because of our head acoustics we hear ourselves a lot differently than we sound to others. I can't stand listening to my recorded voice either.

But, having said that, and being totally accustomed to what you sound like to the rest of the world, I think you should talk while throwing, and explain how you centre, cone, open, pull up, shape, etc. I felt like a voyeur until you smiled at the camera, kind of letting us know it wasn't candid camera.

You might want to pull in the zoom a bit closer, and get rid of the bottom quarter of the image that was just your plastic covered lumps of clay. Kind of get the frame set so it's just the platter and you in the picture. We could see better what you're doing.

Just curious, have you ever tried a small piece of wet chamois to finish the lip of the cup? It comes out silky smooth.

  5. I have used a small piece of chamois, I just couldn't find one in my mess! I was thinking I should play around with the camera, to get it all framed better. Its an ongoing process for sure. I am going to throw some tonight and give it another whirl, but first need to find another shirt to wear, or it'll be cleavage all the way, and Duffy will spend all his time watching. and not get any work done... I promise I will talk this time!

  6. It's mesmerizing. All the sudden, oh there's a tumbler! That's crazy. I could never do that. My brother WIll really took to the pottery wheel at school. My parents have his pots around the house. I think I'm too much of a spaz to even try. I did like hand building things though. I wasn't awesome like you are, but it was fun.

That was a cool video for sure. Oh and don't worry about your voice. I think we all sound weird to ourselves, but everyone else knows what we sound like and it's normal to them.

"Oh hi!" is what I thought when you looked up at the camera.

  7. Holy shit! It's like you read my mind! I was going to mention Duffie in the last comment, but then I thought that it was out of line. But you're right. He'd love it. So if you can go a bit more low cut this time, and zoom in a bit closer, I'll phone him and e-mail the URL. :-)

Nice to see you producing all of this material. You should put fish on them like the ones you had on the bathroom wall in Fredericton. They were awesome fish. I loved them.

  8. I will do some fishy tumblers! maybe they can be a late wedding present, cause ya know after all you did FINALLY make an honest woman of mira's mama. Ah, if we can't tease Duffy, what is the point in going on......
